SEND

SEND information about our school.

As of 1st September 2014 the Government has launched a new Code of Practice (CoP) for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) which aims to reform and improve current practices and provision within educational settings for young people (SEND Code of Practice). Our SEND Policy demonstrates adherence to the Code of Practice.

Currently children with additional needs are identified in a variety of ways including: Teacher Assessments; standardised tests; progress of child in relation to age expectations; observation within lessons; concerns of Parents or child; and through advice of other professionals (e.g. Educational Psychologist, Occupational Therapist).

If parents and carers have any concerns about their child’s progress they can contact the school office at any time to arrange an appointment to discuss these concerns with the class teacher, the school SENDCo Mrs Sanderson or Headteacher Mr Wheatley.

Most of our school policies can be found on the website or available on request from the school office, please visit our policies page for a list.

More information is also available on the Local Authority website which includes a new ‘Local Offer’. This Local Offer outlines information about SEND and services available for those with additional needs, between the ages of 0 -25, for Parents, Carers and Young People.
